From the river town of Rowlesburg, Preston County.

An all-volunteer crew, watching over the Cheat River valley.

Rowlesburg Volunteer Fire Department answers the call for a historic railroad town in Preston County. No paid shifts, no career roster. Just neighbors who train, turn out, and show up when it matters.

A town built on the rails and the river.

Rowlesburg has always looked after its own.

Set where the Cheat River bends through Preston County, Rowlesburg grew up around the Baltimore & Ohio Railroad. It is a small mountain town with a long memory and a strong habit of neighbors helping neighbors.

The fire department carries that habit forward. Every firefighter here is a volunteer. They give their own evenings to training and their own nights to calls, so that when a siren sounds along the valley, someone is already on the way.

The community events board

Twice a year, the whole valley turns out for the crew.

A volunteer department runs on the town that stands behind it. These are the two nights Rowlesburg rallies. Come out, bring a neighbor, and help keep the trucks rolling.

Annual community night

Rockin' on the River

Held along the Cheat each year

Rowlesburg's riverside gathering, hosted to rally support for the volunteer fire department. Music, neighbors, and a night on the river that doubles as one of the crew's biggest fundraisers of the year.

The Ultimate Bash

A yearly night out for a good cause

The department's other signature event, a community bash that brings the valley together and puts the proceeds straight back into the equipment, training, and station that keep Rowlesburg protected.

Always room for another set of hands.

A volunteer department is only as strong as the neighbors who step up. If you have ever thought about training and turning out with the crew, the department can point you to the next step.
